Today I heard from my dear friend Denise. We have known eachother for 20 years. Our kids have grown up together - when we weren't, one or the other of us, moving around the country, which we have both done extensively. She moved from Vicksburg MS to Pierre SD and back again; to Provo UT then to Phoenix AR. Now they will be moving soon to Idaho. Denise grew up in Orem UT and before she was married she worked at Scotty's Castle in Death Valley. After she married they moved to her husband's family farm in Idaho. At some point before I knew her she and her husband lived in Timbuktu, Mali Africa. Like all "Rolling Stones" she and her family have many amazing everyday stories to tell.
Denise has been the kind of friend that has defined friendship for me and inspired me to be a better friend: the kind of friend she has been to me. She is kind, patient, unfailingly loyal and is willing to give unbiased advice in a kind and supportive way. She knows how to work things out... something not everyone can do. She's the kind of friend you can not see for years and be able to pick up where you left off when next you meet.
I have many fond memories of our visits back and forth and I'm looking forward to many more.
