Where I stayed
It worked, I am on the mend. After a slow start we all piled back on the bus for a trip to Fethiye, a few hours away.
On the way we stopped and toured around the ancient city of Xanthos. Ali told the story of the Lycian people who began this city in 400 BC. Rather than being captured by the Persians and turned into slaves, they committed mass suicide. The Persians, the Greeks and Romans turns taking over the city. After wandering about the ruins we boarded our bus and headed off to a natural wonder of Turkey, the Saklikent Gorge, and lunch.
Saklikent (Hidden City) Gorge is the longest and deepest gorge in Turkey. It is a spectacular place, with sculpted walls soaring high above. Near the gorge is the Tlos Yakapark Trout Restaruant. The restaurant is located beside running water making it a very pleasant place to rest and eat. You can listen to the sound of flowing water as you chat and a sip your drink.
We reached Perthiye and checked into the nicest hotel so far, the Ata Park Hotel. Where we enjoyed a quiet meal on the hotel's terrace with Jim and Susan from West Vancouver.
