This morning we toured Rumi's mosque, now a museum dedicated to him Dervish movement. It contained manuscripts of Rumi's poems done in beautiful script. He is buried here along with several other important members of the whirling dervishes of the time.

Off again for a longish drive to Antalya on the Turkish Mediterranean.  Along the way we stopped for lunch at a roadside cafe/garage, not unlike what you see along major highways in North America, except for a few things. The complex usually contains grocery markets and souvenir shops but the major difference is that every car, truck or bus that pulls in gets washed for tips. Gas is about $2.60 CAN a litre, apparently one of the most expensive places in the world for fuel.

We continued on our trip and stopped at a small fruit stand run by a family.  We bought fresh orange juice made from his trees for 1 Turkish Lira a glass (took 1 and half to 2 oranges to make) or 68 cents – delicious. Bought some oranges from him as well.  The fruit here is very good, juicy and sweet. Local bananas are the small ones but quite sweet.

One more stop on the way to Antalya and that was at Aspendos, a Roman amphitheatre.  It is surprising how well these kind of structures have survived the centuries with all the earthquakes this area has suffered.

On to our hotel, the worse accommodation so far on this trip except for that damn train.  Not a very nice hotel nor innkeeper, oh well after the train, anything is bearable.

Antalya's old town is quite attractive although the humidity is starting to get quite high along with the temperature! We gave a pass on the kabob dinner favoured by several of our travelling companions and went for a walk through the old town to the harbour, very pretty place. It can
be tricky to find your way out of the old town and we wandered about for awhile enjoying the sites and shops when another part of our group saw us and called us to join them for a late dinner.
