This entire day was devoted to resting up for meals and eating them. We travelled from 12:30 to around 10 PM to arrive at our berth for the night.  Apparently Egyptian laws forbid ships from travelling on the Nile at night but ours didn't get the memo.

Great food, quiet enjoyment of cruising up the Nile, felt like a character in Agatha Christies’ Death on the Nile.  The boat is not crowded as the volcano took its toll on the tourists expected to sail, so the boat had about 30 passengers instead of the normal 300.

We had to travel through locks to continue on our way so we ended up in a queue of about 10 other cruise boats.  This creates a market opportunity for merchants to crowd around the ship in their boats yelling up to the tourists on the sun deck to buy their stuff.  They put stuff in a bag and throw it up to you to look at or throw back to them.  Our tour mates bought an Egyptian robe for 50 EP after starting at 350EP.  He put the money in another bag of material and threw it back to him.
