After a 8 hour flight, inlcuding flying a holding pattern, some extra bumpy turbulence and a'difficult landing' we arrived in Newark, ready (but not very willing) to catch the next 5 hour flight to San Jose.

There was also a lightning storm beneath us and surrounding us as we flew which was really pretty and possibly the best views of lightning I've ever had.

We had already filled in lots of customs forms on the plane and the ESTA form back in Britain, but the process still took forever. At the desk they recorded our fingerprints and took a photo, they don't even have my information for that in the UK!

We were already pretty tired with it being around midnight UK time. The second flight was less interesting too, you had to pay to use the entertainment system and we figured that we had already seen enough TV for one day. Apparently 5 hours is also too short to have a vegetarian meal so I got to have the salad, yay!
