Ok, so we left the sunny beaches of Nice and finally arrived in Italy.

Our first stop was Torino (Turin in English) where the winter Olympics are going to be held next year. This was a really cool town. There obviously a lot of contruction (since the Olympics are less then a year away), but I can see why they picked this town. It's a big city with lots of nice shopping streets and plazas, but you can see the mountains on almost all sides of you, so it doesn't feel like a big city. Very cool.
The first night we arrived, we went for a walk to find dinner..and walked right into the middle of a Chocolate Festival that was being held about 5 minutes from our hotel!!! Wow..this really is my kind of town!
Another great moment came when we were leaving the main cathedral in Torino. We saw this camera crew set up at the bottom of the steps..when we walked around them, who did we see? Brian Williams!!! Nothing caps of a trip to an Olympic city like seeing Brian Williams and a CBC crew...we were so pumped!

After Torino, we headed to Venice. This was my second time to Venice..and I still have the same opinion: its strange. Yes, I think it's really beautiful and the canals are amazing..but it doesn't seem like anyone actually lives there. EVERYONE we saw was a tourist. There was also snow in Venice when we arrived, and apparently there's NEVER snow in Venice. (something about the air currents and the canals..) I think the weather hates us. haha
We took a day trip day to the island of Murano, where they make and blow glass. It was really nice..and very cool to see them making the glass vases.
We've also eaten our fair share of gelato and pizza..mmm...

So, yes..the trip is still going great.
Hope you are all well.
