We said good bye to Nashville today and hopped into the car as fast as we could to stay dry, you see, it was raining hard core this morning and the streets were soaked!  We have been very thankful the weather has been so cooperative for us (someones prayers have been working!)  We do understand that if we had to deal with some weather than this we could work with - as long as it didn't last too much longer!
The highway was wet, I mean WET.  Being from California we are not used to much rain so Emily and I had our eyes focused on the road without speaking, we just stared as far in front of us as we could.  We witnessed several cars on the side of the highway, one in a ditch, some turned in the opposite direction...We delt with this for about an hour and a half while being passed by several semi trucks who didn't like that we were going so slow!  Oh well!
Pulling over in Elizabethtown, KY we wanted to grab some coffee.  Unfortunately, everything was pretty much borded up, no luck - there were about 5 attorney at law offices in a two block radius though.  Finally, as we got back on the road the rain had cleared up and we followed our way up I-71.  Making few stops, only for bathroom breaks we traveled through Cincinnatti, then Colombus on up to Mansfield, OH.  We have seen more corn fields than we have ever!  We did find the ponds off the side of the highway surrounded by trees very beautiful.
We made it to Mansfield, OH around 7 pm (another time change-but our last) and headed out for some dinner.  The country we are surrounded by is beautiful, outside our hotel room we have a view of the countryside where we witnessed some deer feeding in the grass.  On our way to dinner we drove through town, managing to get lost due to a road closure Betty did not know of.  We found ourselves on dark country roads trying to keep an eye out for any deer that may jump out infront of us.  One road led us to a dead end where there were in fact, several more deer but didn't mess with us!  Eventually, in the dark we came across the restaurant we were looking for.  I should mention this town is completely closed down after 8 so this is why we had to travel so far to get something to eat.  I'd like to say finding our way back to the hotel was easy but we ran into the same problem.  Thank goodness we don't let the gas tank go below half a tank!
We are back in the hotel, few pictures to share since most of our day was spent in the car...of the pics we do have they were pretty much taken from the car window!
Tomorrow we will attempt Amish Country but in the meantime get some good 'ole sleep!
