this was a leisure day no hurry burry.we had to just trek 3Kms to valley of flowers and back.the entrance of valley flowers is hardly half a kilometer to ghangaria.one has to take few flight of steps from ghangaria and we land at the gate of valley of flowers. we have to pay Rs 150 per head as entrance fees to park and actual park is 3 Kms from this point.this trek is through heavy jungle and horses are not allowed inside this reserve forest and only pittus are allowed.fortunately we got to see a glacier by a river.we thought of hiring a guide but he quoted a price Rs 1500 which was too high hence we rejected him.

after nearly half a kilometer from the gate there is tree which is hollow from ground till height of nearly 6 feet!!!!.there is enough space for an average person to stand inside the tree!!!.we also got to see and insect eating plant which has small cup like structure with leafy lid on it.whenever an insect enters the cup the lid gets closed and insect is digested by plant's digestive juices.

we had to cross river old metal bridge and started climbing the other side of mountain.this was steep climb.for nearly half a kilometer.at one point of trek route nearly 100meters of route is washed out by landslides.this is a  dangerous place to walk.there is just enough place to walk for a single person and other side has deep gorge leading chilling waters!!!.we had tough time negotiating it.and finally after 2 hours we reached valley of flowers.we were tired and ate aloo parathas got packed from ghangaria.tourists are advised to carry food as nothing is available in valley of flowers.

the trek route is just beautiful with all kinds of flowers on the way.one can constantly hear loud sound of water flowing throughout the trek route to valley of flowers.there is map of valley of flowers indicating the places and glaciers in valley .there is also route to grave of Joan margaret legge ,a british botanist who had come to research more about valley of flowers and unfortunately died in the valley due a fatal fall in 1930's.there were quite a lot of himalayan poppies and pink coloured flowers ,which i couldn recollect the name.
there is also trek route to badrinath from here.
the valley gives you an amazing feeling of rejuvination.there were lot of sparrows flying around you.lot of small streams of water flowing.it has all qualities of a fairyland!!!.I ventured far into valley of flowers. the number of  flowers just increased and there was no much difference.i went near the grave of the botanist. after having few photos i returned as i was all alone in the valley and there was thick forest at other side of valley where many wild animals lived. I thought it was time to move back.it was dangerous stay there for more time.I came back to hotel in ghangaria by around 3PM.

just in front of our hotel was a small projector room and office of EDC ,Eco Development committee.these are people who are responsible to keep the trek track clean of all plastic and animal waste and also maintain ecology in mountains.every evening they have small documentary on valley of flowers.this is for 20 minutes and is very informative.it costs Rs 20 per head.we can also buy VCD of documentary for Rs150.they also have very good books on valley of flowers with some amazing photos
