Over a year later and I am going to try finish this travel blog....
Right well the beach time did not work out as it is winter in South America at the moment. We did set a new record for ourselves though by staying in 3 different hostels for the 3 nights we were there....
On our second morning I went parapenting or paragliding I think in English, basically the guy who owned the hostel was a qualified tandem instructor so we got up bright and early and Steph was official spectator and when the wind was right and the parachute thing was floating in the air we (being me and the guy who owned the hostel) jumped off the side of the cliff and spent about 20 or so minutes sailing down over the city of Iquique to the beach. Totally cool... took loads of pics from up there which I will upload, just on a mission to get the travelpod up to date at present!
We also went out to the super huge duty free area, did not really like it. We were quite underwhelmed by it so we did not actually buy anything except coffee and I tried on about 200 pairs of jeans.... We originally had planned on celebrating Steph's birthday here but because it was the off season and there was not much of anything going on we decided to hop on a bus out of there and head for Salta in Argentina for the birthday celebrations!
As we had originally planned on going sandboarding in San Pedro de Attacama but as we were now bypassing there for Salta we went sandboarding on our last day in Iquique. Super fun! Sore when you fall though and I bodyslammed myself onto the sand on one fall and it went everywhere - in my ears, eyes, pants - u name it!! Splat! funny though once I got my breath back.
