We arrrived at the airport, it wasnt a very big airport, there was just light aircraft based here, from 2 seaters up to 12 seaters, most seemed to be Cessna's, I did recognise a couple of the larger aircraft

If the seats were removed they could be used for parachuting or freefall
We met our piilot and co pilot, they had changed the rules, we now had to have a co pilot,

We had all been weighed and checked, there was to be four of us on this flight, not including the pilot and co pilot

The aircraft trundled up to the end of the runway (I dont know about the others, but some of these flights can be risky with up to 20 aircraft either crashing or having a forced landing, its due to the lack of tourists and lack of maintainence)

I had really looked forward to seing these lines so it was a risk worth taking and the pilot seemed compentent enough, but I would never know until things went wrong

We moved down the runway, didnt seem that fast to me, but the take off speed is just over 120 mph, we lifted off and the ground was left behind us

We donned our headsets and the pilot told us where we would be heading, I saw the lines in the distance, I reckon we were about a 1000 feet high, but it still looked a long way down (we werent issued with 'chutes either)

Oh well, the end would be quick I hoped

I am not exactly sure what we did see first, but we turned both left and right to let us all get photos, there was a couple I did recognise though, the bird, the spaceman, the monkey, but some of my pictures were awful, not just because of the height, but the lines and and the light, but still I did my best, but you will have to be the judge of them

After about 30-40 minutes we turned towards the airfield again and prepared to land, I couldnt even see the airfield, but the pilot knew


The runway hove into view and we lined up and descended, it was a smoothish landing so we just stopped next to the terminal building and all got out (well any landing you walk away from is a good landing)

I said my thanks to both the pilot and co-pilot, we took a few photos, the pilot went off to get the next group of passengers (if they dont fly, they dont get paid)

Well that's about all it was for the Nasca lines, I was a bit disappointed with my photos and the lines, impressive as they were, they just didnt come up to my expectations,they werent as distint as I had hoped, but it was good to see them, anyway

I think you managed well, as I would expect you would need more height to get any better pictures. You can make a lot of them out, and it must have been difficult to get anything better , unless you had pilots who you could trust to give a side on for a minute or two(tipping plane) BUT i would think you would have to know you hade a parachute, and plenty of trust in the pilots.

Don't be disappointed with your photos. The important thing is that you saw all these in reality and this is what counts. What we see virtually does not count that much but still some of them are really good. I guess if the plane was much higher and probably another time then probably the lines would have been clearer.
Still, you did a terrific job. Thanks for sharing.

Well i think the photos are really good so dont be disapointed with them
