7 July Trancoso

We left Cavallas this morning, and it was still raining (I haven't seen a day it hasn’t rained yet)

My washing was nearly dry, but hey ho, it’s a job and a half drying clothes out here, everything is hung on clothes lines, but if the rains don’t get you, the early morning mist or dew will, but everyone has washing that needs drying, I am Danny has insisted nothing is left hanging in the truck, it would look like a Chinese laundry otherwise (but of course, there are some people who’s washing is more important than others)

We are off to a National Park for a few hours walk about (its going to be a bit of a lazy day I think) Monte Pascoal

The National Park has peaks and mountains, they are shrouded in clouds (or mist) so Danny and Collin go off to sort things out, some people are going, some are staying behind to sort out kit and stuff (and some of the bags I have seen really need sorting)

Those that werent going pretty soon decorated the truck with their washing, so there were knickers, towels and all sorts hanging from windows and rails

Within 10 minutes, those that were going round the national park came walking back, the guide was drunk and they had doubled the price, I don’t really know why a guide was needed (he never spoke English anyway) so the walk was cancelled

The guide was wanted (well not really wanted) but had to accompany anyone that went round the National Park to give them employment, but as things had changed (the guide too drunk to even speak) and the price doubling and trebling, it never happened

As you can imagine there was a scramble to put clothes away, repack bags (I don’t know how some get on with stuff all over the place, glad the truck isn’t full it would be a real nightmare with clothes and kit)

Anyway we set off again, the road never turned to a mud track again, but we were in no real hurry now, lots of time

We have arrived in Trancoso, it is somewhere along the coast, the campsite we were going to use was just too small and the other was closed, so we are at another hostel, all the rooms have been allocated, we even get to use the kitchen to cook our dinner on (it had to be done as we had bought all the fresh meat and it wouldn’t have kept) so there was no escaping the cook group, even though we are in a hostel

During the day it was pretty uneventful, the rain was on and off, there wasn’t even very much worth photographing, we had a few stops, but even then there wasn’t much to see

So there isn’t much to show you, maybe the morning will be a better day

The only exciting thing I can really say is, the hostel is clean, compact, the food is going to be good(pumpkin soup, never had that before) , and my washing is on a line

AND it is Naomi’s birthday, so there will be balloons and cake (there does seem to be a lot of birthdays on this trip)
