2 weeks to go now

I have packed and repacked several times now

Weighed everything several times and I think I have now got it to a reasonable weight

But I do have the advantage of having it carried in the truck for me, so it's just a day bag I will have to carry most of the time

I have been told to get travel insurance, I guess its a stipulation of Oasis, I havent had any on my past couple of trips, I just never seemed to use it, never used or made a claim at any time when I was just doing the 2-3 week holidays with the wife and kids, I dont suppose I will make a claim on this trip (thats whenI find out if this insurance is any good)

I have done a few searches for internet availability, it does seem pretty good in the cities, but I really don’t expect great things in the smaller towns and certainly not available out on any of the roads

Still I can write stuff down, save it in a word document and then upload it, so there may well be several entries sent in one go (Hopefully with the correct date)

I haven’t been able to find out exactly how many are on this trip, (I was told there were 11, but haven’t had any updates) there are several that will be joining and several dropping off (a bit like a hop on/hop off bus trip) I have had contact with one person on the trip (Peggy)

I joined a group on FB, but it’s pretty dismal regarding information about who is on this leg of the trip, so it will be of just waiting until we all meet us and finding out

It has been pretty boring (VERY)  just waiting to do this trip and as I have now done several trips, I think I have got the packing and sorting stuff out down to an art and there is a limit to just how many times you can repack a ruck sack

I am going to be taking my binoculars, they were handy in India, (but I don’t know if we will be out spotting wildlife out there)

I am still debating about taking my own tent, I do prefer my own company (plus I have been told I snore like I am cutting logs) but I guess that will be a final day decision (it only weighs in a 1 kilos)

I do have weight to spare, I don’t think I will be buying anything, strict orders not to buy ornaments or souvenirs (Anne has said we have far too many) and the fridge is now covered in magnets, it’s hard to find the door handle

I am hoping the weather (whatever it may bring) will be a bit more settled that it has been in the UK

BUT I am still not sure what kind of jacket to take, (a couple of sweat shirts and a rain coat or my timberland jacket, brand new!!)

This is about it then, I’ll do a final post just before I walk out of the door on the way to the airport

Looking forward to your comments

Hello..nice to see that u have done with ur packing stuff .Some times it is really very good to see people directly. so I think u should keep patience :)
Travel insurance is good to keep with u all time while travelling and we also suggest to our guest who comes with us in india on our overland trips.
Internet will be big problem somewhere but some times it seems good aswell.. and with nature u will get better connection than internet. if u will be visiting pantanal then binocular should be handy because there u gonna see so many birds and wildlife like jaguar. Happy journey and keep updating us with ur blog. Looking forward to meet u up in india on our overland trip.

I'll have to remember the bit about the fridge door. I kind of go overboard with fridge magnets too. Cursed be the day they were invented!

Magnets...on fridge doors. Mine has none because the outer cover is wooden, so I have no reason to complain. I used to buy one or two for my son and has them on the fridge in Athens now....all three are there all right! We just returned home from our tour to the Peloponnese, I am ready to start writing about it by tomorrow, but I am at the same time looking forward to your entries Derrick.
1.5 kilos for your own tent is nothing...I suggest you take it along.

Good luck with trimming the weight down- din.t lose too much weight yourself though- you will probably get lean again on your travels....

I know you are looking forward to this trip just have a great time and i hope the weather is good for you

Binoculars will be useful in the Pantanal.
I think the weather will be reasonably warm, with highs in the 20s much of the time, and lows in the low teens until Peru.
