Hello, I just returned from Kempot this afternoon. I met a really great girl named Anglee. She lives there and wanted to take me home to meet her family. No...No it's not like that. It took about 1.5 hours to get there in a taxi. The countryside is one picture after another. You can see this wonderful view of Bokor Mountain with the rain clouds surrounding the top. The lush jungle as far as the eye can see. The rice fields are now planted with peanuts, great with the local beer! Kempot is also a big producer of salt. There are also plenty of cattle roaming the street and hiways. We've come to a screetching halt a few times just missing these beasts. I love to see these small huts along the way. Most of them are on stilts and look so incredable! I bet they have not changed in 50 years...maybe longer! As we get closer to Anglee's home we get to this giagantic two story mansion! This place is really nice! Nine bedrooms with bathrooms in everyroom, very uncommon. I met her family, a younger brother maybe 13 and speaks pretty good English and her older sister. She is 30 and very beautiful. This family could not have been nicer! I felt honored that they would allow me (a stranger) into there home and welcome me as family. They were sooo kind and went out of their way to see to my comfort. Anglee's father wanted to know if I would live there. He said I could call him Papa, lots of smiles and laughs. I did call him Papa for the two days! We had a Barb-b-que that night and about 30 people from around town came. I think they were all family. We had a great time talking to each other asking simple question about our countries. Lots and lots of laughs!! Cambodians can drink!
