Where I stayed
TRANSIT HOTEL CHANGI AIRPORT
Well here we are in Singapore. An unbelievably smooth flight from Sydney Australia has left us a bit exhausted but we have managed to get aboard a free tour of Singapore City on the main road from Changi Airport. Starting with the airport, it is magnificent to say the least... Singapore in general is a very clean place. Tree lined streets with green well manicured gardens and high rise buildings, are some of the sights that impress me from the tour bus window. Outside the temperature is in the high 30's and the humidity makes for a very sticky photo shoot. None the less, I find very contrasting infrastructure between the ancient and the new Singapore fascinating to say the least. My brother Dave and I, only have a short time here before we must catch a connecting flight across the South China Sea, to Manila in the Philippines, so we must take in as much of the sights as we can in this limited stop over.
Singapore like most other places around the world, has its places of worship but of particular interest is a temple housing Idols of Buddha, Hindu gods, and Muslim religious symbols under the same roof, suggesting to me, that they all may have lived in harmony in days gone by.
I want to spend more time here but we must check our baggage in on time to leave again. My passport has now some interesting stamps on its page one, so at least I can now say I've seen Singapore if on only a two hour look around. My impressions are one of a good faith that this city really is as I'm finding it for the first time. My brother Dave has been here numerous times before but assures me it's always a good place to stop over en route to other countries. Someday, I'd like to return and stay longer.
We board our flight and wave good bye to Singapore Island, as it disappears below us and soon we are again at 40 thousand feet and headed north east., towards the Philippine Islands.
