It felt like 24th November! The wind was howling and torrential rain showers would come from nowhere, to be followed by brief (very) glimpses of blue sky. It definitely was a stay in harbour day, the question was what to do? I thought that lunch out might be nice and we came up with the bright idea of visiting the local shopping mall, where we could do some shopping and have lunch. I know, I must have been desperate, wild horses wouldn't get me into the Trafford Centre at home (the enormous shopping complex built on ground that used to house factories and printing plants, back in the days when Britain made things, rather than sell stuff that other peoples have made).

So, after a late start, we set off with our full waterproofs on, to walk to the shopping centre, which we thought was just slightly north of the train station, which was about a 15 minute walk from the harbour. Enquiring as to train times and prices for Ribe, another town some distance away and worth a visit if we were harbour bound for several more days, we also asked for directions to the Kolding Shopping Centre. The rail employee kindly pointed out that it was at least 6km away and we really ought to consider taking the no 5 bus! Which of course we did.

Kolding Shopping Centre was ok, I suppose. What was good was the supermarket had a large hardware section and I was able to buy a Black & Decker mouse (small sander) to replace the one that broke some years ago. We intend doing some varnishing before we come home so this will be a useful tool. We also bought a 5 litre box of wine, at less than 50% of its’ usual price ( it was OK too!) so that the saving paid for the bus fare... We had lunch in one of the Danish restaurant chains called Jensen Bøfhus – burgers and salad from a salad bar with half a litre of red wine and believe it or not they were excellent, as were the salads and the wine, so we really rather enjoyed ourselves!

Back to the boat, just missing the rain which started again in earnest and the evening was pretty much a repeat of the previous one, wind, rain and a DVD ( 'Perfume’ in this case – I enjoyed the book but was bored by the film).
