I don't know whether it was my subconscious or whether it was the actuality that resulted in my having a disturbed night’s sleep – my subconscious stopping me from sleeping well as Helen had set her alarm and that always seems to impact on my sleep, unless I set two, then I’m fine, or the actuality of the increased wind, finding loose halyards and making me get out of bed and prance about naked in the rain at three in the morning to find the offending rattling article.
As a consequence of alarms and the aforementioned, we were up and showering by 06:45, we needed to leave the boat by 08:10 to give us plenty of time to walk to the bus stop. As mentioned last week, the bus stop is conveniently close to the supermarket Kvickly, which amongst other attributes, provides a wifi hotspot and a cafe, so I took the pc with me in order to download my mail and upload the last week’s blog (apologies for the inordinate gap in updates, but there are no hotspots when you’re at anchor!), this I would do once Helen was on her way. The bus arrived promptly and as we waved goodbye, as before it was with a mixed set of feelings, regret that a good week had come to an end and that a friend was leaving but tinged with a sense of satisfaction and relief that it had been that ie a good week and finally, a bit of anticipation for the coming week.
Mail downloaded and blog updated and shopping done, we headed back to the boat. We then got a call from John, Julie’s brother, to tell us that he had had his pocket picked in Victoria bus station and he’s lost all his Kroner, return train tickets and credit cards and E111 card. What an awful start to the holiday for him! At least Susie had the plane tickets and some money, so as long as they can get 100 kroner to pay for the bus from the airport to Ebeltoft, they’ll be fine. Apparently, with regard to the E111 card, there is a number one can call if one needs medical assistance in the EU and have lost your card, so at least they will be covered in the unhappy event that they would need a doctor.
We spent the remainder of the day reading, boat cleaning , email writing and generally relaxing, ending up with a DVD, Married to the Mob with Michelle Pfeiffer which we enjoyed, whilst the wind still moaned outside and rattled new loose bits on the boat.
