They say that the Conservatives do better when it rains, as more Tories go out to vote in inclement weather than do the opposition. In this part of the world then, they won't do well, as it was a bright sunny day, albeit with the chill NE wind still blowing, to become quite strong by the afternoon.
We navigated the boat successfully from the Roach (lovely smooth anchorage, recommended) to the hammerhead on D pontoon in Burnham marina, sailing most of the way in the gentle breeze. Now this pontoon is long, it must be 500 yards at least, so it is a long walk to the facilities.
We spent the first half of the day washing clothes and ourselves, then shopping followed by a late lunch. Elaine was due to arrive by train at 14:44 so knowing that she would have a heavy bag (containing amongst other things, an Elaine tradition and very welcome, a Blue Peter cake ( a fruit cake)), we borrowed one of the marina’s trolleys and put it to good use bringing her bags back to the boat -or at least I did, the girls went to explore Burnham. It was really good to see Elaine again, she is so chirpy and enthusiastic and makes it very obvious that she likes both our company and more importantly, our boat!
Evening was spent in the marina bar, whence I attempted to upload this blog onto the internet, unsuccessfully. The meal however, was more successful so apart from the frustrated efforts of accessing the internet, it had been a very pleasant day.
