We had friends over and had a rousing game of Monopoly happening most of the night. Around 11:30 most of the farmers had already left, but a couple of brave souls stayed as we watched The Ball drop in Times Square NYC. Then it began. Now mind you, I've done my share of travels, several countries, 4 continents, etc. But at midnight I heard what sounded like fireworks but having been forewarned I knew better. GUNSHOTS! That's right, shooting of guns into the air by the local farmers at midnight! Made me wonder why we called it The Wild West instead of the Wild East?!?! Quite an experience, and one that possibly only happens in rural 21st Century America (or Muslim territories following a successful terrorist attack). Anyhow, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Peace, Prosperity and Enlightenment await all who seek it this year, so sell all your belongings, loose your attachments and follow your heart.
