Location: Hostel in Karlstad

Beers consumed to date: 1171

On Thursday we left Stockholm at 12.10pm. We checked out of the hostel and went to Central station only to find that our train wasnt listed on the screen. After some investigation we found out that we had actually purchased a bus to Karlstad and then to Oslo. I dont know why we didnt realise when the ticket actually said bus. We thought it must be a slow train or something. The coach was comfortable at least and not full so we all got our own two seats. Along the way we got to see some of the Swedish landscape, which was mostly forest or agricultural land. The whole countryside was also white dure to the frost and most of the large lakes had already started to freeze over. As we arrived in Karlstad it snowed slightly but not in the volumes we are hoping for. We investigated the town and looked where the nightclubs were only to find that the 18 year old one was beign renovated.

The hostel we are staying at is more of a hotel than a hostel. We are in our own room with a tv, the only thing missing is a personal bathroom. Later that night and after a couple of beers (our first since Ireland) Marc and Peter decided to investigate the town centre to see what we could do on Friday and Saturday night. As it turns out the nightclub was infact closed and the others you needed to be over 20. We travelled to Karstad expecting to be able to go out so this was a bit of a disappointment. Although this means that we will save money and have a big night on my birthday when we arrive back in London. The next couple of days we will just investigate around Karlstad and hope for snow.
