Once again we get on Route 101 (the same one we traveled along the Washington coast!) and try to see through the early morning mist the Pacific coastline. We are given tempting glimpses that hint at the beauty and raw strength of the ocean, and see the huge rocks being pounded by the waves. On a whim we take a side road for several miles and find ourselves in the middle of the huge redwoods, it feels as if we are alone in this park and the majesty of these immense old trees reminds us of how fleeting is our time in the world, renewing our conviction to seize the day. After Eureka the road takes is away from the coast and towards more redwoods, we take the Avenue of the Giants to Garberville and set up camp for the night. Looking forward to seeing Javier and Irina soon.
