Where I stayed
Hood Park Campground
On Saturday we headed south along the Columbia River, past irrigated orchards of apples, cherries, potatoes (?), grapes. Arrived in Tri-Cities, set up camp in Hood Park (Army Corps of Engineers) where Snake and Yakima rivers join the Columbia.
Today we visited Ice Harbor Lock & Dam, saw huge salmon and carp move through the fish ladder on their way upriver. Had lunch in historic Walla Walla, then went wine tasting at Reininger Winery where we liked the Cabernet and a Bordeaux-type blend which we bought. Drove to Kiona to taste wines at Terra Blanca, not impressed with the Malbec from Yakima, nor the Syrah grown locally in Red Mountains, but their Syrah Reserve was truly excellent though unfortunately too pricey for us.
