Dinner was phenomenal !

De Haven Van Huizen located in an old smokehouse in the old harbour of Huizen, Netherlands. The chef and staff pride themselves on serving large portions of fresh,  using only the highest quality ingredients, quality food!

In the summer months the lovely spacious terraces directly on the water invites you to have a nice cup of coffee or eat outside the sheltered garden. In the winter or bitterly cold windy day a glass of wine tastes best in front of the large open fireplace.

Huizen is a municipality and a town in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland, originally  a coastal village, with a thriving fishing industry. After the damming of the Zuider Zee by the Afsluitdijk in 1932, the old sea was degraded to a mere freshwater lake, and economical activities shifted towards industry
and commerce.

It sounds terrible when you think about it, cutting off the whole fishing business but It has to be done to  reduce the impacts of flooding through prevention and structural controls to prevent the loss of life and to minimize property damage.
