Can I just say, I love spending weekends at home. Don't get me wrong traveling throughout all of Europe is a blast and something I am very grateful for the opportunity to do, but this weekend was one of my all time favorites.

Friday after class I came home and actually had a rather productive afternoon, studying for my Art History final that I have this week.  The best part was that I could do so from the back porch of our house because it was mid 50's and sunny outside! It has been sunny and no rain for a week straight here now, I'm pretty sure that is some kind of record for Luxembourg.  After studying all afternoon and then going inside and just hanging out and making some dinner, Jordan and I decided we were going to go see a movie.  There are a few movie theaters around here actually, and many American movies play with French and German subtitles.  We picked our movie, No Strings Attached, with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman, and hopped on a train to the movie theater about 10 minutes away.  To our surprise when buying our tickets we even got a student discount! And, when you buy your tickets, you look at this little screen and pick out which seats you want, such a great idea!

Saturday, I woke up to do a paper that I have due this week which ended up taking all morning.  Then we ate lunch with our host family, they made vegetable soup, which we have had before it's so good, and sausages. Yes, that's right mom I ate sausage...but it isn't like american sausage...at all.  After lunch we met up with one of our other friends from our city and went into Luxembourg City to do a little shopping and such.  We of course spent most of our time at H&M because that is probably the most popular store in Europe.  After some shopping we went to this place called the Chocolate Company where you can order a really unique hot chocolate! It's called a "chocospoon" and it is basically a wooden spoon with a block of chocolate on the end, and then they bring out a mug of hot milk to stir it into.  They have a ton of great flavors, I want to try all of them before I leave. They sell other chocolate things there too, but we went especially for the hot chocolate.

At home, we were having a special meal because Kellie's mom was visiting.  It is called Raclette and it was so delicious!! It is kind of similar to fondue...but different.  There is a unit in the middle that has a grill on top, and then a shelf under the grill with small pans for each person to use.  You take a slice of Raclette cheese and melt it in the pan, and you can add other things to it too like onion, potato, seasoning, etc. and then you can use the grill on top for bacon or other meats to grill while you wait for your cheese to melt.  We had an assortment of potato, those little pickle things, bacon, onion and pineapple (so good when you grill the pineapple and then add the cheese!). Now that I have made your mouths water you can all help me out in looking for one of these Raclette units at home!

After dinner we had coffee and homemade Tiramisu!

Sunday was a great day, I did nothing! Well not really, but I did nothing stressful that's for sure!  I spent my morning making cakes with Danie, Sam and Lynn.  Danie is teaching me to cook and bake so that I don't have to find a husband who can. That will help broaden my options greatly.  The cake was a yogurt cake that you can add whatever you like to, I'm bringing home the recipe no worries! Afterwards, we had lunch which was potatoes, peas and carrots and chicken.  Then I had a Nerf gun war with Max and Sam, I think they really appreciate the fact that I don't mind playing all their boy games with them.  But you all know me, obviously I had been eyeing the Nerf Guns all morning just waiting for a battle to ensue.  After my exhausting victory over Max and Sam I sat outside on the porch some more and read my book, and then took a nap in the sunshine...to be woken up for leftover tiramisu and one of the cakes from that morning.  After eating some more delicious treats, I went back inside and helped Carlo bake two more cakes, Lynn helped of course, and then attempt to do some work.  I ended up knitting and listening to music instead though, but that's okay because I didn't have anything due monday anyway.  What a great and relaxing weekend, it couldn't have been better! And yes, I know, I eat a lot and love food too much. I'm pretty sure food is my favorite part of traveling.
