Where I stayed
Miami Everglades Campground
Wednesday was the last day we would spend in the Keys, and it was a beautiful day to go to the beach. We decided our last beach day should be at Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park because it was recommended to us as the beach that locals like to go to. We definitely weren't disappointed by the white beach or beautiful blue water and we even spent a little time snorkeling too. I can't explain exactly what it is, but something about being on the beach makes a simple sandwich lunch taste even better than usual! After lunch we loaded up and headed for Miami, enjoying every mile of the drive back through the Keys. Even though we didn't stay there, I would probably recommend Bahia Honda State Park to anyone coming down here to camp, the sites sit between the highway and an amazing beach and have some of the best scenery we've come across yet.
A night out on the town was waiting for us when we got to Miami. We set up camp and then met up with Della's friend Kim and her boyfriend Chad for a taste of the nightlife in Miami. It was fun to have the company of friends after our time on the road, thanks guys! We had some great appetizers, including life changing brie, and a round of cocktails at an Italian restaurant in a cute neighborhood just a couple of miles from Kim and Chad's house. Apparently In Miami downtown isn't the place every one goes to see and bee seen but instead there are options all around town that offer different falvor and charm. After finishing up our first round we walked a couple blocks away to an Irish pub that serves up drinks until 4am (we didn't stay to the end though!). It was a great welcome to Miami!
