Where I stayed
That's what Derek said about noon today as we heard a rustling outside the trailer and looked and saw a grey iguana, at least 4ft from head to tail, stretched out next to our picnic table. I had time to stick my head out And get a look as he sauntered away and another more colorful (and a but bigger!) green and orange one appeared. We clamored out of the trailer as both scurried away and only about 5 feet to the rocks that were between our site and the little dock. They stopped on the rocks apparently interested in getting a little sun, it is Key West and all. We watched in awe as Derek exclaimed "I've never seen a wild one before!" I was pretty sure that I hadn't either and certainly none this size except at the zoo! Apparently these two belong to a group of decedents of some house pets let loose that now reek a little havoc on the island. Raccoons, possums, ducks, cats, deer, wild pigs and now iguanas have frequented our sites along this trip, what can possibly be next?
