We woke up to another beautiful morning at Cochiti Lake and enjoyed our Cheerios for breakfast. Our plans to leave on our time were thrown to the wind, when our camping neighbor decided to strike up a conversation. We learned her husband and their age difference, about her family fights over inheritance and her distance from her siblings. We learned about her broken ankle and leg which were compounded by her diabetes and her entire financial situation, which ends with her and her husband living in a tent around the greater Santa Fe area campgrounds. She was a really nice person, just difficult to end a conversation with. Needless to say this delayed our departure, but soon we were Texas bound!
One stop that is a little unusual in Amarillo is Cadillac Ranch. This is an art installation just off Interstate-40 which consists of old Cadillacs buried up to the windshields as if nosediving into the ground and covered in graffiti. Its pretty cool to see them up close, and they're quite popular. We were in at least a few people's pictures as we all walked around them.
Dinner in Amarillo was really tasty at Crazy Larry's BBQ, a neighborhood place with great reviews. I knew that one thing I would love about Texas was the food, and this was a good start. We camped at a Walmart Supercenter just off the freeway and had two neighbors, which is always nice to see. Tomorrow we'll be on our way to Benbrook, which is just outside of Ft. Worth. We're enjoying the y'alls and looking forward to the next few days here.

Dad might want to think about this if Wilber ever retires. Front yard? New tourist destination. Could decorate for holidays. Possibilities are endless.
