On our way to Granada we stopped in Valencia. We didn't plan to go there, but I wanted to try the real paella valenciana. At the end I was very glad that we stopped. It is a beautiful city and I discovered something about the real paella valenciana.

We parked the car and started walking randomly toward what we thought it was a river. We didn't have a map and had no idea where to start looking for the paella.

Once that we reached the "river", we realized that maybe at some point in the past it was a river, but not any more. Now is a ver long park which appears to follow the same way to the ocean as the river did. It is a beautiful park with many fountains.

We followed the park toward a very impressive and new looking building. Once that we reached this building we found out that it is the arts centre. Outside of the building there is a group of sculptures in form of candies with the flags of different countries. These sculptures represent the relationship with each of those countries.

In front of the arts centre there is a big shopping mall in which I was able to try the paella valenciana. Here I learned that the real paella valenciana must have snails (among other ingredients). That was surprising, but very tasty.
