We had a great time in Nimes. We started our day by sleeping in, which is always a good thing. Later I went to find something for breakfast and end up finding this fantastic market with all sorts of Mediterranean food.

We walked around the market amazed by the fresh fish, fresh and colorful fruit and vegetables, intense aromas of the spices and large variety of cheeses and meats. Once that we decided what to buy for lunch and where to buy it, we bought some olives, anchovies, dates, and saucisson. Trust me, it is not easy to take a decision in such a market.

After the market, we went to visit some of the roman ruins in Nimes. We went to the arena of Nimes which is a smaller version of the Coliseum in Rome. It is the best preserved roman arena in the world. That is something to say. We went through a tour about the life of the gladiators including a complete explanation of the different types of exhibitions in the arena and different types of gladiators. They gave us an in depth explanation about armory, weapons and skills of each different type gladiator. We were amazed by the courage and skills of the gladiators who chose this as a profession to acquire glory and fame. At the same time, We realized how brutal some of the exhibitions in the arena were and how sadistic some of the emperors were. It was a very interesting tour.

After Nimes, we drove all the way to Barcelona. On the way to Barcelona, we stopped in a resting area to have the lunch that we got from the market. It ended up being a nice place for a pick nick.
