I'm not really sure where, or when I first heard the term" cooktard", but I immediately liked it and it has sorta stuck with me ( I mean no disrespect by the way....) In fact I think it's a good thing? I have travelled to several different venues with my sister Marla (this will be my 7th) and I have enjoyed every David Cook concert that I have attended. I must however confess I am not an "uber fan" like many of the people I have met over the last 4 years, but I have grown to love and accept my sister's devotion to this extremely talented young man( and the rest of his band too!) The entire town of Clovis is buzzing today.....Lots of out of towner's have arrived, many for the 98th annual Clovis Rodeo, and possibly more "cooktards" than cowboys!!

After breakfast Marla and I headed over to the Clovis rodeo grounds. Thought it was a good idea to get a visual on the stage and also scope out our seats (bought tickets months ago!) We were directed to the grandstand, and again met up with J.J. Harrison ,the Clovis rodeo clown. We started talking to him and he was really interested in our story about our obvious obsession with David Cook, and we went on telling him how much we were looking forward to both the bull riding and the concert afterwards. Apparently he really took a shine to us and said he would see if he could pull a few strings, talk to a few peeps, and get us a backstage pass to meet David later on.A few minutes later we met Chuck, one of the Rodeo Directors.......he said he knew who we were "celebrity visitors" (his words, not mine) then he said there was a news reporter from ABC there and she wanted to interview us!! My sister Marla was quite reluctant at first ( she's kinda shy) however at my insistance I managed to convince her to agree to the interview. We were introduced to ABC local reporter, Stephanie Stone, and it kinda went like this.......................

After our ABC interview we walked away thinking we might get a 30 second spot at best, however we were surprised to see the entire uneditted version on the 5:00 news !! Imagine our reaction when we received a phone call a few hours later (again from ABC News) requesting yet ANOTHER interview!! Word had been rapidly spreading all over town about these two wacky sisters from Vancouver, who had walked all the way from Fresno to Clovis!! Unbelievable......hmmmmm......you decide....................

But wait..............there's more!! Believe it or not about 10 minutes after our first interview in the afternoon, we were approached by NBC news, and were interviewed for a third time. I have not seen the clip from that station, however I am trying to track it down. Remember, these are all local affiliates, not major networks, so it may take some time to find the last one. Okay so you are thinking.....hmmmm, that's quite an exciting day, but wait.....I forgot to mention the Blood Drive!! It's an annual event during the Clovis rodeo, and reportedly one of the largest events in the state of California! Marla and I lined up to donate blood to this very worthy cause. Went through all the pre-screening/blood typing etc......only to find that because we had both recently got a tattoo, we were not eligible to give blood , but at least we tried :-)
Apparently it's a safeguard to prevent the possibility of passing any diseases through infected blood products, good news is ...........we got twinkies & a t-shirt for our efforts :-)
