Well I don't know what to say? I have never gone this long without posting something, however I must add that we have been quite busy! Here are a few updates going back to Thurs last week. Spent the day at the beach and then Ross and I celebrated 7 years together  at El Colibri. Mary Jane's small oasis in the garden still tops our list of the best in San Juan del Sur!!

We have really noticed a large number of  Canadians visiting Nicaragua this year.Just a couple days ago a couple from the Greater Vancouver area arrived here at the Park avenue Villa's. They sold everything they owned and packed up their van and drove here! Like many people from North America they were just plain "fed up" with the government, taxes, etc back home , and are looking to start over in a different country. Sounds kinda crazy to me, but hey you gotta love the sense of adventure some people exhibit!

Honorable mention this week goes to Brian and Corine from Comox, B.C. They have been staying with us at P.A.V's for the last few weeks, and have decided to continue on to South America! It was great meeting you both! Enjoy the rest of your travels:-)

Then early Friday morning we took a 40 minute drive south to Playa El Coco. We were here once a couple weeks ago ,and just discovered that some friends Andor and Judy, who we met last year, are staying here with another couple from the U.S. that just finished building a fabulous little house right in the middle of the beach

Duane and Jan's house on the beach is really cute. They are just finishing the landscaping now, and it all looks very nice. During the night a turtle came right up the beach in front of their house and laid her eggs, but by early this morning the nest had been raided :-(
This is not a protected beach like La Flor, which is one bay over towards Costa Rica. Here is a picture of the sunset from their front patio.

And a really nice restaurant next door to where we stayed!

Last night for the first time since arriving in Nicaragua I could not sleep, no it wasn't barking dogs or squawking chickens, it was the pounding surf!! You have no idea how loud the crashing waves can be when you are staying right on the beach.I hope tonight will be better! Yeah I know.......poor me!

We were up early this morning ,and after breakfast I went for a walk to the south end of the beach. The tide was just going out and I saw more cool tide pools.

And a herd of cattle wandering the beach!

On our way back from our walk we met up with some guy's with a fishing boat and asked them if they could take us out whale watching, because last night we saw several humpbacks breaching in the bay of Salina's. They were so close we could see them very clearly without binoculars. It was quite a sight, so tomorrow we are hoping to get close enough to get splashed!.

Alrighty then! i think that's about it for now. I really need to get off this computer and go play outside! Hopefully tomorrow's whale watching expedition should be "blog worthy"! Until then...... hasta luego :-)

So those people who packed up their stuff in a van and just arrived on your doorstep (so to speak) are there to stay? Or just passing through? Are they going back to Vancouver after their "vacation" or what? Very interesting what would possess people to just uproot themselves, like that, but I certainly realize it happens! PS Sorry I missed you on messenger the other day-we were on the Sunshine Coast for the weekend and my phone battery was practically dead!

Apparently the Van. couple said they were just stopping in here on their way to Ecuador. However I just heard today that they really like San Juan del Sur, and they may just stay here instead, so who knows? They were tired of the BS in Canada and thought they could find a less expensive lifestyle . I think they may be on to something!! Yes I figured that you might be in Sechelt.I will "connect" with you in the next few days! I am kinda missing everyone back home,so it's good to keep in touch :-)
