Where I stayed
Last week Ross and I took a day trip south of San Juan del Sur to a small secluded beach close to the Costa Rican border. We were so impressed with the beach and the area that we have just booked a couple nights there this weekend. We found a really quaint little place right on the beach. It is designed like an old Nicaraguan ranch house, but it has all the modern conveniences. It also has a private wrap around pool, and is steps away from an uncrowded beach.
Last week when we visited this beach we were the only ones there. I was told this beach is about a mile long. It is really nice for walking or swimming.
We have quite a few things planned over the next couple weeks, like our trip to Ometepe Island and also to the Corn Islands. Ross also assures me that he has something "extra special" planned for Valentine's Day, so stay tuned to find out what's in store!!
Lastly, since it has kinda been a "slow news day" I had to post a picture of today's catch. We have been patiently waiting for the fresh Dorado ( Mahi-Mahi) In the 5 weeks we have been going to the fish market, today was the first time this species of fish has been available. If you have never tried it, I must say it is amazing!! Not like anything we have on the West Coast of B.C. Although our salmon is pretty hard to beat!!
In the picture, just so you know. The pineapples here are totally white fleshed, no yellow pineapple here! So what looks like onions in this picture, is actually small cubes of pineapple. It was really, really tasty with the fish.
