I could not finish this 6 week blog without mentioning some of the people who helped Ross and I have the trip of a lifetime. These are the people behind the scene starting when we first arrived at the Camino Real in Managua. The entire hotel staff were so friendly and accommodating. The hotel is located just 5 minutes from the airport, which is really nice if you have a flight that arrives at night.

Agueda at Iskra travel has been instrumental in making our travel throughout Nicaragua flow smoothly.
She has provided us with great door to door service at a very affordable rate.We used Iskra travel from the first time we arrived in Managua, and it will be Iskra delivering us to the Camino Real tomorrow. A very special acknowledgment to Francisco, our private driver who took us on our trip to Granada. If you really want to see Nicaragua, ask for this young man,he was born and raised here in SJdS,and he is very familiar with the area.He speaks very good english. It has been a pleasure to know him. www.iskratravel.com

The staff at Park Avenue Villa's www.parkavenuevillas.com
I really don't know where to begin. In the last few weeks Ross and I have come to know the staff here very well. Ralph and Renda have hand picked some of the nicest, polite, young people from SJdS.
There are 4 fulltime staff, Jorge, Jenny, Alma, and Oscar. There are also 2 partime staff Lucas and Jose.

It is the tireless efforts of these young people that have made our stay so wonderful(.Just to refresh, for those who don't know. We have rented a 1 bedroom suite, with a kitchen) Each morning after Ross and I return from our walk on the beach Jorge, Jenny, and Alma have cleaned our suite, done dishes, changed bedding, washed floors....you get the idea. They do it all!! Every day! They are all so friendly, and learning to speak english.Never in my previous travels have a met a group of such happy, smiley individuals.
Then there is Oscar, who is also Alma's Dad. He is our night watchman. He arrives each night after sunset and keeps a close eye on the hotel while we sleep. It is a real comfort knowing he is there. He does not speak any english, but it is quite remarkable how well he communicates with us. He is a hard working man, and we have a great deal of respect for him..

One final thanks goes out to the people of Nicaragua for being such gracious hosts. This is truly a beautiful country,so full of laughter, and smiling faces. One only needs to spend a short time here to witness the true spirit of the Nicaraguan people. It is my sincerest hope that some people who read this blog will get over their fear of travelling to Central America, and experience the splendor of Nicaragua!!
