I can't ever remember walking so much in such a short time period! (If I've done it- I've chosen to block it from my mind). I've been spending the past days just walking and walking all over Melbourne. Soon I'm going to have to start paying to actually go into buildings to see stuff, since I've almost run out of free activities!!

Anyways, I'll tell you what i actually HAVE done. The first few days were pretty boring getting all set up in the country. Bank, mobile, tax number, and all that exciting stuff. On the Wednesday, I decided to go for a wander. Turns out Melbourne got the tail end of a cyclone and winds were up to 130 kmh. Yes- this was the day I chose to walk about town. Let me tell you, "Windy Wellington" was NEVER that bad! Good thing I learned my lesson there to wear shorts under skirts!!

Melbourne is a really wicked city- they have art installations EVERYWHERE, and lots of parks and gardens. It doesn't help my money-saving (or lack thereof) that the suburb I am now residing in (Richmond) is known for being a shopping district. Thankfully a bargain one! I also went to an Australian Rules footy game last Friday with Tom, and am heading to another one tonight with a group from IEP, the exchange program I am with. I actually really enjoyed it, made me realize how much I am missing going to hockey games though! Go Oshawa!! There is a massive markey here as well, (Queen Vic market) so I made attempts at souvenier shopping last weekend, and will try to finish it and send a package home soon. I need to lighten my load! I have lost the ability to pack light it seems!

Basically all I have done is WALK everywhere nearby the city centre. I also visited the St. Kilda district which is a cool little seaside area but apparently it's quite seedy at night. Anyhow, Anita and Gill (my future travelling buddies) will be arriving on Sunday so hopefully we'll do more exciting things once they get here.

I know this entry was rather random, and not so informative. Sorry. Fingers corssed next one is better!

P.S. Also just found out I get $20 reparation from the accident haha (for food costs). I'm loaded!!

Reparation!
Don't forget - that's $20 NZ!!! That will buy you a nice espresso drink in Melbourne... Oh well, it's not about the money - we're all just glad you're in one piece.

Enjoy Melbourne, and not that I'm one that should be saying this, but... write more often!

Hugs,
Melissa
