The big thing of the week was 3 of our group have left us. On Friday night we had a big theme night, theme being pimps and hoes. It was absolutely hilarious and we all had such a blast. It definitely called for a lot of posed photos! The best part was that most of the guys dressed up as "hoes" too!
The costume hunting for that was a good time in itself. There is nothing like seeing a 6'3" guy trying on PVC skirts and tops- not to mention the 7-inch black PVC thigh-high boots! I rented a corset from the costume shop, and fishnets seemed the be the accessory of the night. It was so much fun but it was sad at the same time since we knew WHY we were all going out as a group like that
Yesterday, after we all rolled out of bed in the afternoon, a group of us went to a late brunch and then a waterfront stroll. It was nice to kind of be tourist in the city- not just to spend some time with the Irish girls in daylight (a rarity!) but to soak in the sights while I still can, and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. Saturday night, we went to the Welsh pub since Helena and Jane left early this morning. I was just in one of those moods to sit and listen and not talk much- because now I am thinking about how I will be the one leaving next week.
This morning, I dragged myself out of bed after 3 hours sleep to a) say the final goodbye to Helena and Jane and b) to watch the England/France rugby semi-final. Good thing England won since most of the people staying here are from there! It was a good game, and we took a nap before our smaller group (the cooking club!) hopped on a bus and went to Lower Hutt in order to visit a proper shopping mall. I bought new nose studs, but other than that I was actually really disappointed with the crap selection of clothes in NZ. Its springtime, and skirts seriously are non-existant with the exception of a few really short numbers which is def not what I'm after. I'm going to have to lose all my weight and get my old stuff shipped over lol!
It was great to get out of the city. I basically have been right in the city centre for six weeks now- despite Wellington being gorgeous cuz its all hills, it was nice to drive along the coast and see the mountains (hills) in the background over the water. Driving through the smaller suburbs, while I am really sad to be leaving the people, I am looking forward to settling in a smaller city (so I guess Queenstown is out!) to work again in the New Year.
Tomorrow I'm going to give shopping another shot- wish me luck!
