So, after a short flight from Amsterdam into Berlin, we had already gathered a small group of tourmates going on the Contiki Eastern Road tour. I had already filled up a cab prior to departure- myself, Alicia, a fellow hygienist who actually lives only an hour away from me, and the couple from Ottawa. The second cab contained two other Torontonians who met on the first plane, as well as I believe 2 others.

The cab ride was filled with lots of sights to be taken in. The cabbie also informed us that it is considered extremely rude to cross the street against a light- only walk when the little man tells you!

Upon arrival, we checked in and split ways. I walked into my room to find my roomie already there- Sheila, a Brazilian girl who had just completed a year of schooling in London to learn English, and would be heading back to her home country shortly after the Eurotrip. Sheila was hungry so I gave Alicia a call to see if she wanted to head out- her roomie Larissa also tagged along, as she had spent the previous day exploring the city. A bus and sub ride later, we were close to the center of the city. After what seemed like forever, we finally convinced Larissa we needed to stop NOW for some food. We found a little pizza stand and got some weird shaped pizzas. I found some decent, cheap sunglasses since I idiotically left mine at home. Explored, checked out the Brandenburg gate, called it a day and headed back to the hotel.

A little later, after we showered up and got generally more presentable, we headed down to the meeting which briefed us on the tour in general, and had an OK buffet dinner. Afterwards, we planned on finding a bar downtown to hit up, but we found a bar at the hostel next door (The Generator) and ended up staying there all night, getting to know each other. Good times.
