Great sleep ready for a new day of adventure.  First hour or so the landscape was alot like home.  First stop was Roturua where they recommended we head out to Wai-O-Tapu (means sacred waters) to see the geysers....little of a disapointment as far as the geyser was concerned....I guess I was expecting something like Old Faithful....NOT.  We did the self guided tour of the park itself which was great, we saw craters that ranged from 5 to 50 meters in diameter & up to 20 metres deep.  Many have various type of geothermal activity such as boiling pools, sulphur vents and mud pools.  The water and ground are coloured by various oxides.  Purple - manganese, Red/brown - Ferrous and Yellow - Sulphur.  Unfortunately the photos do not do it justice.  Now on to Huka Falls....The colour of the water was beautiful....much like the streams in the Canadian Rockies.  Back on the road again on a road that was twisty & turning like the Cabot Trail only the water we saw was Lake Taupo....just beautiful.  Stoppped for the night in Turangi everything seems closed except for the groceries...so had a picnic dinner outside our cabin....Great day!
