We love Auckland.  We are staying in CBD - the central business district.  A lot of people say its gross, but we think its beautiful.

There's Queen Street which is the main shopping street, with lots of side streets.  There's the waterfront with lots of quays.  It's really well thought out, green and funky.

It's nowhere near as busy as Leeds, even in the middle of the day when everyone from the offices are out and about.

We managed to get tickets direct from the box office to see Roger Waters.  Whenever we looked online the options were really expensive.  Buying direct from the box office we got great seats looking directly at the stage and for a great price too.  So we are seeing him 22 February.

We have been looking into relocating campervans.  Basically there are a few companies on the internet that need their campervans taking back to where they came from they come from and they cost very little.  To hire a van you are looking at anything from $60 to $150 NZ a day plus insurance and fuel.

After a few enquiries we have been accepted to take a van from Auckland to Nelson 3rd March.  Some companies charge you $5 a day - this one is totally FREE.  We collect it with a full tank of fuel and can take it back empty.  Most others you have to take it back full.  They will re-imburse us for the ferry crossing for the van....but sadly not us, but its a cost we would have incurred anyway.  We have 3 days and 1200km allowance....but we can extend our time in the van for $120 a day and have unlimited mileage.  So we are thinking of maybe extending just by 3-4 days and taking our time to get down to Nelson.

We've been chatting with Craig (Darren's childhood friend) who's lived here for years.  He has a friend who needs a house sitter - perfect for us.  He's also helping us sort out a temporary work visa and some fruit picking work.

23 Feb we will be checking out of our apartment and we've arranged to workaway with a lady called Karin who runs a B & B in Devonport which is a short ferry ride from the CBD.  We'd been in touch with Karin before and didn't think we'd be able to work for her, but we've jiggled things around and now we can from 23 February to 3 March when we pick up the van.  Karin is also looking for someone to house sit in July & August, so it will be a good opportunity to meet her and chat through the details.

All very exciting.
