Where I stayed
Best: Making it to the top of the Hidden Lake Trail.
Worst: I don't have anything
Unexpected: Bighorn Ram in the parking lot
Today, we slept in a bit (until 8:30). Then, we ventured back into Glacier with intents on taking the infamous Going to the Sun HWY and do a few trails.
The first trail we chose was what we thought was Logan's Pass. We found out that was only the info center. The trail was called Hidden Lake Overlook and was only 1.5 miles with a 460 foot elevation gain. Only problem was that it was still entirely covered in snow. We all decided to do it anyway. As usual, I trailed behind, but not so far behind as I expected. The scenery once again was stupendous. Every time I think I can't see anything more beautiful, I am blown away again. We took our time and eventually made it to the top. The view was awesome and it was well worth it.
We continued on the Going to the Sun Hwy. There was a lot of construction, but we enjoyed stopping and checking out the view. We lost count of the number of waterfalls. After the drive, it was after 6 and none of the girls were interested in another hike, so we went back toward the hotel.
Along the road we saw:
Osprey
Mountain Goats
Bighorn Ram
Black Bear
Another great day. God's magesty is magnificient.
Tomorrow, we have hopes of going horseback riding in the park.
Rick and I left the kids behind with a pizza and went to Spencer's for steak--the restaurant we were unable to go to yesterday. It was great.
We bought binoculars at a pawn shop. A first for me.
