We have another quiet start to the day. After breakfast, Wayan arrives at 0930 to take us all to Blue Lagoon for a snorkel. A short 25 min road trip and we enter the very busy port town, full of tourists and locals. We make our way to the Blue Lagoon, which does look lovely and trek down the steep stairs to the beach. Vicki and Darryl hire some snorkelling gear on the way down. It is very humid and hot, the bay is becoming busy with snorkel and dive boats as we gear up and enter the water which looks clear.
Unfortunately, there is rubbish floating by our heads and while the water is clear and there is  a lot of very colourful fish and coral, the rubbish is so off-putting I almost exited the water in the first 5 minutes. Once we swam a bit further out the rubbish was less and I could appreciate what the bay had to offer. However the lack of care for the beautiful environment was distressing and a floating female condom was too much and finally I left the water. Darryl left first, then Vick, me and Sam. I did get some photos that indicate clear water, but honestly the rubbish in the water and along the beach really spoilt the event for us all.
We came back to our pool side to read and swim, but it is quite hot. We all ordered a sandwich to eat and a drink to enjoy as we watch the ocean and have frequent dips in the pool.
Vick and I then head over to the spa, for our 2 hr treatment: we both had a facial scrub and pedicure and I also had a body scrub while Vick had a back, neck and head massage. We leave the spa all scrubbed and relaxed and get ready for the cocktail party.
There is only a few of us at the cocktail party, so we all chat together and encouraged by Gade to get our money's worthy, all consume several cocktails and tasty nibbles all prepared by Dewar and his team- yummy!!! A small rest before dinner starts at 8pm, a magnificent feast of imported lamb rack, squid and chicken in the BBQ, wonderful salads and hot meals as well, a combination of international and Balinese cuisine. Dewar was fussing around the buffet, introducing each dish as you went to get food, it was very lovely.
The down side of the night was the prolonged Balinese dancing and the 3 girls who thought they were fabulous but were in fact pretty bad!!: Both these contributed in driving both Vicki and I to lay down in our air conditioned room and fall asleep, prompting Darryl to come looking for Vick and when he could not get her to answer their door, he woke me and eventually we got Vick to wake up and open the door. As both of us fell asleep and the boys stayed awake, we both felt a bit bad, as they endured more Balinese dancing while we slept!! The 3 piece band kicked on and picked up the pace, so that by 12mn, we were al awake and partying once again in time to see 2013 in with a bang and not a wimper, as it seemed around 11pm!!
