Me again,
Sam slept in today , after our big day yesterday. I was up around  7.30am and off to the laudromat 2 blocks away to do a load of washing, advertised fast internet was pathetically slow.

Today our highlights were:
Walk to Rockefeller Ctre and trip to Observation Deck, gave us the most amazing view of the Island that is Manhatten. Iconic pics of Central park and skyscrapers for everyone!! This is the bldg that the workers had their  photo taken sitting on the steel beam suspended  very high up in the sky.
After that we walked to Grand Central Station and stopped into the Waldorf Astoria first, had a pee in their fancy wash rooms and took some pics, then off to Grand Central Station, very impressive and then down to the Oyster Bar for lunch in the dining concourse of the station, they had 23 oysters varieties to choose from!! We had a tasting plate of oysters followed by some deep fried scallps, OMG, all food delicious, washed down with a SB from Chile..yum!!

More pics of the station, then walk up Park, across Madison, to 5 Ave, look at expensive shops, pass thru Times Sq and perused the markets there and bought a few things on our way to hotel for a nap before the night outing.

We took the night bus loop tour to Brooklyn, it is beautiful! We went over the Manhattenbridge and the city scape was beautiful. Did not take my camera as it is heavy and lots of pics from movnmg bus did not work out, as it turned out, they stopped in Brooklyn Heights for pics so could have taken it.....bummer!! Brooklyn Hights is very beautiful.

Off the Loop bus in Times Sq, fantastic at night of course, very  lit up. Found a cute little Noodle House for dinner.

Oh, just remembered we went to Ellens Diner, cnr of Broadway and 51st, as recommended from Lorraine to Vick, interesting place and I had my first NYcheesecake and a coffee.

Sam struggling with concept of tipping and won't do it so all tipping done by me, as I do not struggle with it as I know the basic wages are low and the tips are essential for people.

Never travel without your computer for WIFI access, internet cafes are a thing of the past, you need your own connections.

Still no access to download pics, so only words to read, sorry about that.

Tomorrow we go to Harlem for tour, church visit to hear and see service and gospel singing and then to Sylvias for southern fried chicken, Billie Holiday sang here along with every other famous black jazz singers. We will have an easy afternoon after that and plan to go to Central Park, will see if that is all we do.

Lots of love,

Deb and Sam

Hahaha Jane, but funnily I keep humming that New York song they are playing on the FM stations now, it is a great song by an African American singer, and that one is constantly in my head.

Do you love New York?? I can't remember if you have been here or not, if not you need to get here it is 1.5hrs from Toronto!!

xx

I agree with tipping also but found it tiring making sure always had smaller notes handy - think they should instigate system where you just hand over a lot of money when arrive and be done with it! This could also have to do with my maths no being so flash :)
