We left Palermo and started out to Cefalu. It would be a very long day because we had to traverse the entire country to end up in Letojanni near Taormina.

Cefalu is a pretty city located on the coast line. It has a magnificent cathedral built by Roger II in the 12th century. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to see everything including what are billed the most beautiful beaches on the northern coast. We did have time to enjoy gelato made by Da Vini where some of the flavors are made from wines. They have a sampler that gets you 6 or 8 flavors....worth the cost! Who knew prickly pear made a fine gelato flavor?

We bought a piece of wall art in the shop down the way. The young man and his father do all their own work.

The City boasts a medieval fountain that was used for clothes washing until only a few years past. The cathedral is gorgeous and the square a refreshing area where you can sit and have something to eat or drink without dodging cars. Tom and I ran through the museum while Deb rested outside.

This is where the bus got lost. The group of us heading up to where we thought Michael's directions pointed and we waited....and waited...and waited, right next to what seemed to be the only petrol station in the town...and we waited. Finally, a few of us started walking up the hill to see if maybe the bus was there...sure enough, we found a frantic Michael looking for all of us. He said normally one or two explorers get mislaid, but he'd never lost an entire group before!

We traveled on!
