We went back to Agrigento to the museum. Due to a mix-up with the tickets we'd bought the day before that were supposed to get us into the museum today, Michael had to buy more tickets. The museum was well worth it though. They had one of the original Titans from the Temple of Zeus on display. A lot of well preserved pottery, some really large. There were lots of items from the necropolis, including some ornately sculpted coffins.

Around the front of the museum they were still uncovering the Greek theatre so we didn't get to go in there. But we had time to just walk around and look at a lot of things there. Leaving Agrigento we headed inland to the town of Corleone. Only on the tour because of it's association with the Mafia and the movie the "Godfather". Not much there but we enjoyed our lunch in the city gardens and watched kids come home from school....kids are kids no matter where they live! Being the siesta time not much was open so we headed off to Palermo.

We had a stop for petrol where apparently the owners had a real sense of humor about the oil prices!

Our hotel was not the best. It was out in the business district it seemed, up a narrow street from a junior or senior high school. Of course, the phones in our room didn't work. But I was able to call my bank from the front desk and that is when I found out the problem with the ATMs...it was my daily allowable withdrawal was too low to accommodate taking out more than 100euros! So after that I was able to get an increase in the allowance and we were able to get money.

We headed out for a walk, found some street vendors and Deb went into shopping mode. This area was not touristy at all. We did find a really nice restaurant and made reservations for 8 pm when they opened. It was a short walk back to the hotel. 8 pm was very late for us but we managed and had a wonderful dinner where the owners and their daughters helped us interpret the menu. It was a fun experience...Tom thinks he's met the future Mrs!

Walking back to the hotel the city decided it was bed time and turned off all the lights on the streets we were on. It was so dark. We had to walk in the street and use the car lights to avoid walking into the cars parked mostly on the sidewalk!
