Someone with a love for stairs built Ragusa! The bus dropped us in the car park and we walked up the stairs then up very winding cobbled roads to St. Georgies church. There we got our meet up instructions and dispersed. Deb & I went to the art shop and found a wall plaque of St. Georges gate. Several of us had a gelato at Di Vini.... I tried a combo one, I got 8 flavors and who'd have thought that prickly pear would make a good gelato flavor! We walked off the gelato and our sandwiches by seeing the town.

Personal note....take a camera with a flash to the toilet! I asked in a bar if I could use their facilities. The room was inside another room...no light. Not just was the light out, but there was literally not a light fixture in the room! I guess most bar patrons don't really need one. I did. I had use the camera flash just to find the toilet!

The town garden was lovely and filled with fountains and memorials to soldiers fallen in the Great Wars. The view of the valley was beautiful too.

By the time we'd made our way back to the bus and took pictures of the town built into the hills, we remembered we were supposed to regroup at St Georges! Tom and I basically ran back up the stairs and the steep streets just in time to meet the group to start back down to the bus.....we got our exercise in that afternoon!

It was a bit of a drive to Piazza Armenia. We didn't stay in the town. It was dark by the time we got to our hotel. Since we were pretty tired we opted not to go out to dinner with many of the others. We shared a table with Jan and Amelia at the hotel and were later joined by Bill and Ann for some after dinner conversation. It was a nice end to the day getting to know some of our fellow travelers.

Thanks to Ann and the waiter speaking French we learned that by paying for our dinner then rather than charging it to the room we saved money.
