Noto. A very pretty town. Busy for a Sunday. We walked around on our own and enjoyed a nice morning in this "designer" town. The town had been destroyed by earthquakes and completely rebuilt by the Baroque architects.
If I recall one of the stories correctly, some of the townspeople tried to rebuild their town on the original site. The architect was so angry they didn't want to live in his "new" town, he had their rebuild torn down! Apparently, after that, everyone agreed to move to the new and improved Noto.
It was gorgeous. The balconies had elaborate figures and every building was a piece of art. Tom and I went nuts trying to photograph the whole thing!
A man was drying snails on the street...he had a large tarp with all these snails on them. No, I didn't have lunch there!
We left Noto and headed for Ragusa.
