The Crypt was very sobering and we are so glad we made the effort. Our taxi driver took us there and waited. It was eerie and when it was still nearly frightening but it was an awesome experience. http://www.travelpod.com/cgi-bin/view_image.pl?tweb_UID=debjo&tweb_tripID=sicily2006&tweb_entryID=1160056260&tweb_PID=&tweb_guest_password=&POPUP=YES&tweb_img_filename=509470-cattacombe_dei_cappuccini-palermo.jpeg

Then we spent several hours pouring through the Museum. It was a great place with lots of archelogical pieces and facts. Lots of the pieces from Seluinute which we will see tomorrow.

A wonderful lunch at the same place we had dinner. We order three or four dishes and then shared them. Great idea as it would have been difficult for us to eat a whole meal on our own...it is a lot of food! Our Italian is getting better or maybe we are just realizing how much we can understand between 10 years of Spanish, 3 years of French, and sign language!

This afternoon Deb decided to partake of the Siesta tradition. Tom and I went out to wander around. We found a bank for him to trade his US cash.

TRAVEL TIP: DO NOT BELIEVE THE LIES ABOUT USING YOUR ATM!!!! I tried 7 bank ATMs and not one accepted my card. Finally I went into a bank and had to beg them to do something because the ATM would not work. One teller ended up making a phone call and getting me Euros. I plan to raise hell when I get home!

Our afternoon gone we went back to the hotel and woke Deb. I changed to go to Mondello for my night dive only to learn when I called for directions because it was raining they would not be diving.....I just do not understand why not, we are getting wet anyway!!

Yes, I was disappointed but we managed to wander some more and then found a GREAT restaurant where we had a fantastic dinner. And of course more gelato!

Early day tomorrow as we leave for Seliunute.

Sometimes foreigners don't understand
Sounds like a great time is being had aside from the normal travel issues. What is it about foreign people who cancel dives because it is raining??? Hope you get another chance. Deb has the right idea... Have fun, love - justright and the significant other.

Hi Jo and Deb!
Great to hear about your adventures in Sicily! Watch out for the grappa! ;-) Everyone I know who has been there has just had a fabulous time. The scenery looks gorgeous. Can't wait to hear and see more!
