The game started and the first thing we had to do was to explain intentional grounding and a safety to them and the staff. They asked a lot of questions during the game which we were happy to answer. It was really funny trying to explain why Packer’s fans wear blocks of cheese on their head and why lots of people wear beads and wigs in their team colors. It sounded utterly ridiculous, even to us
The Aussie group were fun and very welcoming. The owner of the pub passed around hotdogs with onions, cheese and ketchup. He was very excited to share his American cuisine with us. I passed, but the boys said they were really good. We drank champagne and ate cheese and crackers and olives.
We watched the game on ESPN Australia. They cut out all the American commercials and subbed in the same 5 boring Australian commercials which was kind of annoying. They kept showing an ad for the airing of the Super Bowl which we were already watching. We all made fun of ESPN. Other than the Patriots losing we had a great time. I would say it is much more fun to watch the Super Bowl in America with the fun commercials and other people who are passionate about their "Grid Iron.”
After the game we went back to Pearl Beach for a few hours, where I promptly laid down and took a nap. While I was sleeping Eric took the camera and went for a little hike and captured some amazing photos. Lesley and Ryan struggled to keep the umbrella up in the wind. I missed it all. Sleeping on the beach is so relaxing especially after a few morning cocktails.
We went back to Lesley’s for dinner. Ray and his son Cameron and Lesley’s daughter Alayna came for dinner. We had a fun night. Tomorrow we are heading to The Hunter Valley to stay at The Potter’s Brewery and Spa Resort. We are excited to move inland a little and see the vineyards and rolling hills.
