I am on Day 2 of the Simulation Conference and once again we started late. Today's topics include scenario design and moulage. The day went rather well. After my presentation on scenario development we broke into small groups according to specialty. We had 7 groups: Community, Mental Health, Pediatrics, Adult Med-Surg, Gerontology, Maternity and Fundamentals. Each group was responsible for designing a scenario
The students had a great time at the Formal Activities. Everyone joined in with the dances, songs, & games. There really seems to be a solid connection this year with the students. As soon as the activities were over the Thai buddies took the students to the lake. They were able to ride bicycles around the lake. The weather has been absolutely beautiful this trip. It is a dream world. Blue skies, very few to zero clouds, no rain, blooming flowers, greens everywhere, temperatures in the 80’s and NO HUMIDITY. This weather reminds me of our first year here and maybe even better. So, a little exercise outside is no problem. T-shirts, shorts and sneakers are perfect for a good work out
Greg and I joined Nong Maew and Pi Jip for dinner at CoCo Salad. I ate there with the Wanchaitanawong family on Saturday. They have really good salads and a nicely spiced Thousand Island dressing. We stopped at Mon Chou Chou for another Iced Green Tea with Royal pearls. Nong Maew keeps telling me that the drink is unsweetened so I am trusting her. Nong Maew went to the grocery store with me so I could buy the green tea and make it from scratch. However, the tea does not taste the same. The restaurant green tea takes as if it has a flower or herbal taste to it. My mission is to discover what it is and purchase some for the States. It is REALLY GOOD.
Greg received a 2 hr Thai massage today. I am trying to figure out when I can get the same. I will probably have to wait until we get to the village. I am super tired tonight so while the students visited with their buddies, I took a shower and watched a little TV. Yes, I have satellite in my room so I can get some American channels. I just need to unwind a little bit.
Brianne took a See Lor (small red truck with a cab on the back with 2 long benches) from the University to BCNC. She had some time free this evening and she wanted to be with us. It is hard to find a driver who will transport outside of the city but she found one. He charged 80 baht but she gave him 100 baht b/c he was so kind to her. He had not heard of BCNC and did not know where it was. She could not tell him in Thai so she called Nong Maew so she could give the man directions to the college. She arrived safe and sound. She reports that her classes are going well and so far she does not feel too overwhelmed. The BCNC van transported her back to the hotel. Maew, Greg and Jeremy went with her. They wanted to stop into the Red Cross Fair to pick up a few items. Jeremy is now officially Thai. He bought a silver ring with his Thai name, Jesadah, engraved on the ring. He is so happy with it.
Getting to bed early tonight. We have a big weekend coming up. Good night everyone.
