A very nice leisurely day at the RV Park, drying out the tent, the bags, trying to avoid the handyman named Buford who claims to be 88 but doesn't look a day over 69. Buford says he gets paid by the mile, yuk yuk yuk... which is why he has a golf cart to get around in... he did have a few good jokes, some interesting WWII trivia, and plenty to say about all the New Orleans detritus (6,000 of 'em, he informed me) currently sucking up the state and federal resources of Houston. I say we get it on tape! It's an angle of the story, why not?

Why are we leisuring? Because Chris has to write an article for Studio Photography magazine... again.... so they can promote his project and him and the Kodak film he's shooting... Seriously, he did one of these two years ago and they did a great job. This time they want him to write the article, however, in the first person... It's due today, bless his heart.

Hence my ability to catch up on the blog. He's done everything but read the paper (which he could have, I think they had a Chronicle in the RV office), and the article is coming along nicely. I figure I have a few more hours to write ;-)

Interesting place, this RV park... I had a touch of insomnia this morning, and so got up around 4:30am... would that I had been alone! This place was jamming... people running like they were jogging for exercise, power walkers, and folks off to work... I kid you not, there were at least 20 vehicles that pulled out of here without a trailer attached between 4:30am and 6:ooam.

FOOD REVIEW

Adventure Foods Ham & Cheese Breakfast Casserole
6 out of 10
So far, I'm not wowed by the breakfast entrees, but that doesn't mean they're not tasty. This one is mostly bread, and maybe it's just me, but it tastes kinda plastic-y, from the bag it's cooked in, perhaps? I dunno. This one might be better on the trail with no other options...

Backpackers Pantry Mexican Rice with Beef
8 out of 10
Tastes great, everything re-hydrated just right, you can taste the cheese and sour cream. It's very filling, not too spicy. Chris pronounced it "fine, a little salty." I'd get it again and I don't particularly like rice...

MRE "Pineapple"
10 out of 10
They didn't put a bunch of preservatives in the pineapple pieces to keep it "yellow," which is fine with me. It tasted like pineapple as a result... way to go, G-men!
