We thought we might camp along the way but the mostly rainy day is a put off to stopping early to camp. Early afternoon finds us near the border so we decide to cross and camp in Costa Rica.
Leaving Panama is a quick and easy process but we soon find ourselves caught up in red tape between borders unable to cross into Costa Rica. The computer is saying that the vehicle never left the country. Our passports are stamped out of Costa Rica and into Panama with a stamp for the vehicle in Dom's passport but because the computer says differently we cannot cross. Oh my! Eventually they will figure it out. Apparently no one on duty can over ride the computer so we have to wait for the boss who cannot be reached and it is Saturday, so who knows when. It is a good thing that we are self sufficient and are prepared to wait in comfort. As it turns out the boss can not be reached and the poor customs people are inundated with queues of people trying to get their vehicles across the border. We find an out of the way spot to sit for the night and amazingly the whole place becomes quiet and we actually sleep.
In the morning Dom notices a customs law manual on the desk, and starts to conjure up ideas of what ifs. It was worry for nothing because the business is cleared up and we cross the border at 8:30 a.m.
