We lounged at our hotel's sister resort the Royal Haciendas for the morning while Peter's laundry was being done. For looking at the new rooms, we also got to go to the complementary taco party. After stuffing ourselves with tacos and Dos Equis, we lounged by the ocean for a bit. There wasn't a single fish in the water, so our snorkeling gear was useless. But we had a nice time lounging in the pool bar. Half price drinks from 3-6! .
We head into Playa Del Carmen for dinner. We walked around Quinta Avenida, where we were assaulted with offers for shopping and eating. We got to play with the cutest squirrel monkey - he had the softest fur. Peter wanted to keep one as a pet! We were lured into the tequila shop with offers of free tastes, and left with a commitment to go to a timeshare presentation the next day in return for ferry tickets to Cozumel and a snorkeling tour. We felt a little suckered... We had a nice dinner on Quinta Avenida. Peter had some tasty beef tacos, and I liked my whole grilled fish. The margaritas were a little bland, but the live musical was nice.
The night scene was a little dead (it being Tuesday). We wandered down to the famous Blue Parrot bar, but there was no one there. So instead we went for a moonlit dip in the ocean to cool off. It was a long drive back to Cancun, especially since there were NO SIGNS for the southern turnoff to Cancun Island. Grrr.
